installed my usb727 modem, now can't get popup to stop!!

I know this is more computer related, than USB modem related, but I'm having no luck searching on the internet to find out a way to STOP THIS thing. I installed my USB727 modem on my laptop, and now every 2 seconds, a stupid popup comes up telling me it's "detected new wifi connections!!" I DO NOT CARE about that. Yes, I have a wireless card. But this thing is making me NUTS.
I tried installing the Windows powertools and the "enable balloon tips" wasn't a choice (that's one of the solutions I found since the Verizon wireless network announcement is apparently a balloon tip).

Can someone help me to get this thing to STOP?

I don't think it has anything to do with your USB727 modem.

I think it's your wifi setting on your laptop. If you are not using it, you can disable the wifi completely so it won't even use up your battery.

Sorry about that, I realize it's my laptop causing the issue and not the wireless card. BUT this didn't START until I installed the USB modem.
I do want my laptop to look for wi-fi networks when I'm not using the modem. I guess I should change the settings for the modem since I told it to look for both the verizon modem and wi-fi.
