Verizon Novatel USB 720 problem

I purchased the air care and plan from Verizon about a month ago. I can connect after booting but if I disconnect and attempt to reconnect I get cannot connect error. I am running this on a Gateway mx6027 with Windows xp with all service packs and 1 Gig memory.

I have a Gateway desktop and it works fine on it.

I can unintstall modem and V. software and re boot and re install and it will work reconnecting until I shut down and then it is the same problem.

So far V. replaced air card (same results)
re installed too many times to cound
got a new clean verison of software.
deleted and rebuilt mobil drivers
There are no error in device manager

Can anyone give me some suggestions. I am out of ideas and this is a pain.

Have you tried contacting Verizon technical support and what did they say?

They had me try most of the things listed in the list of things tried. Plus several other changes on the computer, but did not solve the problem.

I am having no other trouble with the computer.
