Verizon XV6800 Gets Keyboard Fix
UTStarcom has posted a driver fix for the HTC XV6800 on Verizon. The update is meant to fix issues with the slide-out keyboard.
The update’s release is odd, in that it is coming from UTStarcom. While UTStarcom does handle the sale and approval of CDMA devices for HTC, HTC in recent years has begun to handle end-user support, device update releases, and even now brands CDMA handsets with the HTC logo.
HTC’s web site makes no mention of the update, even on their own XV6800 support page. Verzion’s XV6800 page also does not make any mention of the update.
It is presumed that Sprint’s version of the XV6800, the PPC-6800 Mogul, has already received the update as a part of the recent firmware update released for the device. In addition, Verizon customers should note that this is a software patch, if you clear storage on your device (hard reset it), the update will need to be re-installed. In addition, if you have added GPS to your Titan, you do not need this update either.
