Unhappy How do I format a memory card ?

The q'zone seems to be suitable for my use and I am very pleased with the service I have received since my switch from Nextel after 6 years but I have not been able to format a memory card with the new phone. After some initial difficulty I used a friends older chocolate to format a card and I now have a new card which I have been unable to format as well. I can save photos to the card and transfer them from card to phone and phone to card in the phone but the various files MY PIX, MY Videos, etc. do not exist on the card and when I attempt to download the images on my computer I am unable to locate any files, the computer claims the card needs to be formatted, when I attempt to format on the computer it cannot do so and claims the card is write protected.

The manual that came with the phone is one of the worst I have ever seen, loaded with tons of info that does not seem to tie together very well and not a mention of formatting a card anywhere. A footnote on this when I personally talk with a Verizon rep or Tech even at UTC they claim the phone is too new to have a handle on all the issues that may come up with it, ....................huh, who might have a handle on the phones issues if not the people who sell it, service it and even those who built it.

I don't know about the Boulder but all other phones, if you plug the new memory card it, it will automatically format it the first time and create bunch of folders where you can put music and videos.

Well, so I have been told but not so, not with my phone anyway...
however, I have since used my daughters new LG (switched her service too) to format the card, just inserted the card and used the format prompt. I wonder if this is a problem with my phone or another of issues with this phone that seem to have been oversights in the design or engineering..........

Well, it could be just your phone.

One way to find out.

If there are other Boulder owners here, have you had any issue with formating the memory card?

Try this take the battery out for 10 seconds then put your memory card in befor the battery. Now power up the phone,go to your camer and take a pic. now go to my pix and pull up that picture, now hit options go down to move if its there, click and if you get the option to move to card, press ok and you should be all set. Now and the other way is to goto settings and tools scroll down to memory 1st click on save options click card for all next scroll down to option 3 card memory click and format will pop up, click ok and you should be good! the problem with your having right now is that the card has mixed files from 2 differnt phones so one will not overwrite the other. the best thing to do is to take all files of the card then put it in your new phone with the power off. Then try to format the card.
