Verizon charges you $0.10 for sending SMS text message from your phone and $0.02 for receiving SMS text message.


You can send SMS text message from Verizon website for free

I stand corrected. Unless you have the pre-paid bundled plan for SMS or Pix, it's 10 cents to send and receive SMS and 25 cents to send and receive pictures.

10 cents to receive seems somewhat excessive. Especially, if I'm sending someone a text message from the web (which doesn't cost me anything) but it costs someone 10 cents to receive it. He or she is not going to like me sending them SMS anymore.....

for the time being the cheapest plan is 250 text or picture messages sent or received for 5 bucks. If you send more than 50 messages a month than it is worth getting. you are right though vtext.com is a free way to do it
