How to configure e-mail services to use Apple Mail
Configuring email services - Apple Mail
| Email settings can be obtained from the email provider. - Open Mail.
Click Finder > Applications > Mail.
- Click Mail > Preferences.

- From the Accounts tab, click Account Information, ensure the settings are correct then click Server Settings.
Mac OS 10.5 and later click the Outgoing Mail Server > Edit Server List.
- Email Address
- The email address
- Incoming Mail Server
- The POP / IMAP server name
- User Name
- The email account login name (e.g. jsmith)
- Password
- The password for the email account
- Outgoing Mail Server
- The outgoing email server address (e.g. smtp.vzwsmtp.net)

- Ensure the settings are correct then click Advanced.
If using Mac OS 10.4 or 10.3 skip to step 5. - Description
- Name for the email account
- Server Name
- The SMTP server address (e.g. smtp.vzwmail.net)

- Ensure the settings are correct then click OK.
- Server port
- The default port is 25
- Authentication
- If using the Verizon Wireless SMTP server, should be set to Password
- User Name
- If using the Verizon Wireless SMTP server, should be 10-digit phone number@vzwmail.net (e.g. 9995551212@vzwmail.net)
- Password
- If using the Verizon Wireless SMTP server, should be the Verizon Wireless My Account password

Mac OS 10.4 or 10.3 - Outgoing Mail Server
- The SMTP server address (e.g. smtp.vzwmail.net)
- Server port
- The default port is 25
- Authentication
- If using the Verizon Wireless SMTP server, should be set to Password
- User Name
- If using the Verizon Wireless SMTP server, should be 10-digit phone number@vzwmail.net (e.g. 9995551212@vzwmail.net)
- Password
- If using the Verizon Wireless SMTP server, should be the Verizon Wireless My Account password

- Click Advanced, ensure the following settings are correct then click the red dot in the upper-left corner.
- Enable this account
- Makes the account active to send / receive email
- Remove copy from server after retrieving a message
- Can leave a copy of the email on the server for another email application to access.
- Port
- POP3 is 110
- POP3 SSL is 995
- IMAP is 143
- IMAP SSL is 993
- Authentication
- Default should be Password.
