Default BitPim

BitPim is a program that allows you to view and manipulate data on many CDMA phones from LG, Samsung, Sanyo and other manufacturers. This includes the PhoneBook, Calendar, WallPapers, RingTones (functionality varies by phone) and the Filesystem for most Qualcomm CDMA chipset based phones.

It can be downloaded from here.

be cautious when you use bit pim because i have seen alot of people mess up their phones because of it. the thing they do wrong is they put the file into their phone but put the music and such in the wrong place using the memory up but not allowing it to play, edit or delete the file. this causes the memory to get so full that the phone will reject txt messages because it doesn't have the file space to accept the message. If you take it into a tech and they notice you used bitpim or any program that would void warranty you are S o L . just warning everyone to be careful

Don't try it if you are not comfortable with "hacking" your phone.

I have just tried using BitPim with my LG VX-8600 and it's pretty easy.

BitPim was able to detect my phone right away so I didn't have to play with any of the settings.

The screen comes up with all the settings (phone book, media, wallpapers, call history, ringtones, etc)

Then, you can either get the data from the phone or send the data to the phone.

It works pretty well.

Question Argh!

Hello -

I just purchased a Motorola V325i the other day and have been trying to figure out how to download new ringtones ever since. I went back to the Verizon store and bought a USB cable and the Mobile Office kit that the rep there recommended. He also highly recommended BitPim as a free download that would help with loading info, such as ringtones, into my phone.

I downloaded BitPim, installed the Mobile Office software, and I STILL can't get anything to work. BitPim doesn't have my phone listed in their settings. BitPim also doesn't recognize my phone being connected to my computer. I think the reason is because the only port it is finding is my modem - not any USB ports. However I can't find any way to tell it to see the USB ports rather than the modem.

The bottom line is this - do you have any recommendations for me? Is there any way to get this to work? If there isn't, I'm ok with uninstalling and returning the USB cable and software and just living with the ringtones I have. I would just like to try all of my options before giving up.

Thanks for any advice!!!

~Melissa

It's possible that your Motorola V325i is not one of the phones that BitPim supports. I looked through all the list of phones my BitPim supports and V325i was not available as one of the option.

You can also check the bitpim.org website for additional support.

Thank you very much for checking and replying on this. I'm guessing that since it is a brand-new phone, perhaps most of the software and such that other people use is not configured for this phone yet. Oh well - guess it's back to shopping the VZ online store for ringtones!

You can still get ringtones to your phone without purchasing.

Read the section on how you can upload ringtone by e-mailing to yourself ($0.25) versus buying ($0.99+).

But if you are going to buy, check out the advertisement for free 10 ringtones when you sign up for a monthly subscription.

Pentium is on a distinguished road

Default Verizon V325i and bitpim

I have had limited success. I have Motorola Phone Tools and a genuine Motorola cable. I use it to make sure the port is sync'd.

I set bitpim to a Motorola V3C. I can update my phone book and my wallpaper. I can't update my ringers yet. I'd LOVE that, but it doesn't. They say the Motorola phones have it blocked. I'd also like to load some games on one of them, but that doesn't work either.

Sometimes the phone and the "modem port" connection just get lost. I don't know why. You end up doing power cycles on the phone, using phone tools to reset the port, etc. I also find getting the phone # (it's a bitpim button) helps.

Oh well, at least I can get camera pics off of it and put my own wallpaper on, and it's a decent interface to maintain my phone book.
