Several specifications of Palm Treo 800w were posted on the Treocentral’s web-forum in the end of September. According to them, the 800w works in CDMA networks, features WiFi, but lacks miniUSB. Yesterday, a picture of the future device was uploaded on the same forum. The design of the phone resembles most of the Palm’s products and especially Treo 680, 750 and 755p. The user, who uploaded the shot, also informs that the phone will be announced next month during a Sprint meeting and will be showed tomorrow at the Sprint Solutions show. That comes contrary to the previous rumors that the new Treo will appear with Verizon before Christmas.

Well look here - after hearing news of Palm’s intention to close down the majority of their retail stores, along comes more data of the upcoming Treo 800w’s specifications. A case of a little bit too late, perhaps?

• Approximately as thin as a Centro
• It will ship with WinMo 6.0 and will be
• compatible with WinMo 6.1 once an update is released
• Compatible with Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008
• WiFi on/off button
• 2 megapixel camera
• EV-DO Rev. A radio, Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR, and 802.11g WiFi connectivity
• microSD memory card slot
• 256MB memory

I spoke with a tech at Verizon concerning the Win Mobile 6 update for the Treo 700wx. He said it should be up on Palm's site in the next few days. When I asked him about the Treo 800 he stated that it was going to be available starting on 7/22/08.

I wonder if there is any truth to either of his statements?
