Vacation in Canada, Cell Phone Usage?

Hello Verizon Users, new to the forum here, but not new to cell phones or Verizon. Question ......

Taking our RV across southern Canada this summer and am trying to figure out the best and most economical cell phone usage plan. Wife must stay in contact with clients, all of whom are in the U.S. We will be in Canada about three (3) months. Verizon just deleted their North American plan, now all we can do is pay the roaming charges, according to what I read.

Anyone have suggestions as to what other arrangements can be made? We both have LG 8300 phones, with lots of minutes and just standard features. Only her phone needs to work well in Canada.

New phone? Canadian pre paid service? Other options?

Well, the good news is that the Verizon phones will work in Canada, but the bad news is it's considered roaming and you'll pay for the hefty roaming charge.....

I would suggest getting the prepaid phones while in Canada (I assume big portion of the summer so at least 1 - 2 months?) so you can at least control the cost.

If your wife is not going to be using the phone much and only need to be standby, then just pay the roaming charge for the few calls, rather than go through the hassle of getting another phone number.
