Default Question on canceling

I was just curious about canceling a phone contract I was wondering what the fee for canceling is.......also wanted to know I had heard that because Verizon had changed a part of the contract that basicaly I could call verizon and cancel my contract early without a cancelation fee is this true?

If there were no consequences for canceling early, why would they force you to sign 2 year contract?

There are still early termination fees but it used to be $175 or $150 even if you stayed like 23 months and canceled 1 month early. Now they pro-rate and reduce the fee the longer you stay within your contract.
