Question Mobil IM with Samsung i760 and Motorola Q9m

Howdy, I'm new here so I'll apologize in advance if I'm making this post in the wrong area.

I'm about to upgrade my Verizon cell phone and I have a question about using Mobile IM (Yahoo, MSN, etc.). Currently I have a Motorola V325 and using Yahoo Messenger through Get It Now charges me for Text messages, which is great. But I have not been able to figure out if either the Moto Q9m or Samsung i760 have that feature. I do not want to have to get a Data Plan since I will have Unlimited Texting.

My question is: Will I be able to use Yahoo and MSN messengers utilizing my Text Messaging plan, or will I have to get a Data Plan?

Can anyone help me with this issue?

Interesting question. I always thought you are using the data plan for IM but you were able to use the text plan to do it. I wouldn't want to mislead you so I won't tell you that you can for sure. You might want to check with Verizon rep when you upgrade to be sure.

Yeah if you use Yahoo, etc. with the Get It Now service, then it apparently counts them as text messages (I noticed that when I was charged for $165.00 worth of text messages on my bill...oops).

I asked the Verizon rep at the store, and of course he did not know. I'll go to the website and chat with a person there.

I'll post my findings incase someone else has the same question.

Thanks. That would be a useful information.

(Especially since I don't even have the texting plan....)
